Llandudno Alice

We have over two years  to catch up on here.  Normally, each year Llandudno holds a competition for girls aged between  8 and 10 years old and living in the 5 wards of Llandudno to be chosen as Llandudno’s Miss Alice.  Our chairman is often on the judging panel for this.   These last two years have not been normal and the 2019 Alice, Millie Woodyatt, served two years as the Covid lockdown meant that the competition could not take place.

On Saturday, June 19, 2021 Llandudno Town Council was able to stage the competition and Emmie Holmes, 10, was chosen and was presented with a sash showing her title and a 'Miss Alice' outfit.  Emmie performed a number of duties one of the last was to walk ten miles around Llandudno raising funds for the charity Blind Veterans UK after which she attended an Alice in Wonderland themed tea at the Llandudno centre of Wellbeing where she met Billy Baxter, Llandudno’s town crier of whom Emmie said   “I’ve met Billy a few times and he always makes a fuss of me and bows. When I first met him he told me he was blind and how he lost his sight. He also gave me a cuddly goat called Billy.”

However all things come to an end, and on Saturday 11th June 2022, Llandudno held its annual Miss Alice competition and Thea Thomas-Graham was chosen as the new Miss Alice.  Thea is 9 years old.  She enjoys drama classes, reading, drawing and making videos.
The role includes accompanying the Mayor to Civic engagements and on occasion undertaking visits out of the area to promote Llandudno and the “Miss Alice” connection.
